Margaritaville at Sea
The Challenge
The assignment was to capture a historic moment as Margaritaville at Sea's Paradise and Islander sailed together through Nassau Harbor. The production window was limited to just 30 minutes, and any delay risked an estimated $80,000 in additional fuel costs if one vessel missed its departure schedule. With no opportunity for reshoots, every shot had to be meticulously planned before production began.
The Execution
We recreated the harbor, both ships, and our planned camera positions in Blender using satellite imagery, ship schematics, and precise lens data. The previsualization allowed us to coordinate with both captains, confirm safe vessel spacing, and map every camera move before arriving on location. When production began, our drone team executed the plan exactly as designed, capturing cinematic aerials of both ships together while staying comfortably within the narrow shooting window.
Still Photography: Culinary & Excursions
The Challenge
Capturing a diverse portfolio of still photography required adapting to two completely different, highly demanding environments. Onboard, we had to contend with the constant motion of the vessel, fluctuating natural light, and extremely tight spaces while shooting high-end food and beverages around strict galley schedules. Off the ship, documenting a live guest excursion underwater introduced unpredictable visibility, rapidly shifting light levels, and the physical complexities of safely operating cinema gear beneath the surface.
The Execution
We tackled the culinary shoots by deploying agile, portable lighting setups during carefully selected off-peak hours, collaborating directly with the culinary team to capture meticulously styled dishes without disrupting passenger service. For the excursion, we utilized specialized professional underwater housings. Relying on advanced scuba training and precise buoyancy control, we stabilized our shots and balanced ambient light to authentically document the aquatic experience. The resulting gallery seamlessly blends the premium onboard dining experience with the thrill of the ocean excursions.
