Immoral Compass Case Study
Dual-Orientation Video Production for a Groundbreaking Series
Go Bold Studio developed a custom dual-orientation workflow for Immoral Compass, enabling simultaneous vertical and horizontal capture with real-time on-set playback. Working alongside director Tyler Falbo and supporting Bill Burr’s Emmy-nominated performance, our team delivered technical innovation, precise lighting, and adaptable cinematography for Quibi’s dark-comedy anthology.

Director & Collaboration
Created and directed by Tyler Falbo, Immoral Compass is a daring dark-comedy anthology co-written and co-produced by Bill Burr. Falbo brought a fresh, irreverent voice that shaped the tone and structure of each segment, allowing the show to riff on everyday moral dilemmas with cinematic precision.
Falbo’s bold storytelling—paired with Burr’s stand-up riffs and on-camera narration—provided the emotional and tonal foundation for the series. Our technical innovations, including dual-orientation capture and stylized lighting, were essential to maintaining visual consistency across this unique format.
Star-Studded Guest Cast
The show featured a rotating ensemble of well-known comedic actors, each delivering standout performances in their own one-off episodes:
Vince Vaughn (as Owen) and Bobby Lee (as Dylan) brought chaotic energy and impeccable timing to their episode.
Other notable guests included Al Madrigal, Nick Swardson, Grace Van Dien, David Dastmalchian, Richa Moorjani, and Sarah Burns—each contributing depth, humor, and nuance to the show’s episodic structure.
This dynamic cast elevated the series, infusing each chapter with fresh energy. In turn, our camera and lighting setups had to be adaptable, precise, and responsive to the tone of every performance vignette.
Audience & Critical Reception
Immoral Compass earned praise for its bold tone and unpredictable storytelling. Viewers called it “some of the best shit I’ve watched in recent years,” describing it as hilariously dark, clever, and resonant in bite-sized form. Its mix of twisted morality tales and sharp performances struck a chord with audiences looking for something different.
The series also garnered industry recognition—Bill Burr was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Short‑Form Comedy or Drama Series. This accolade highlights the strength of the performances, the creative direction, and the innovative format that helped Immoral Compass stand out.
